My 1995 3.0TD Surf has got what looks like a 2.5" pipe comming from the engine, through the cat and into the muffler, then it is a smaller 2" comming out of the muffler, going to the rear muffler/resinator and out the back. WTF?

My paperwork says the dealer replaced the exaust under warranty in 2000 for the previous owner, have they done it on the cheap or is it supposed to be that way? I want to shift the rear section of the pipe to fit my water tank in the back, wondering if it is possible to take the pipe off from the rear of the first muffler and put 2.5" all the way to the back and just bleep off the rear muffler? How loud would that be, any legal issues?
Spose it Explains why the exaust has always had a whooshing sound to it, lot's of pressure building up I guess.

Yeah I have posted their already Truckster, thought I would get the opinion of you guys too though.
So removing one muffler would more than likley give me a nice note rather than making it sound like a tractor? But also clearing up heaps of space under the rear for my water tank...

Mine sounds like a D9. only comes with 1 muffler as it is... Going to reinstall the muffler soon.
