West on the Anne Beadell Highway from Emu Junction on 28-29/8/2026

Indeed, the Anne Beadell has been graded from Emu Junction to the East in February 2026.
There are minor and moderate corrugations redeveloping in sections but it is very different from what it has been.

Anne Beadell Highway, East of Emu, 28/8/26.

This is crossing into Tallaringa CP. Short video clip.

We drove about 110km from Emu today and did 10 photo points along the way.

Easy day today.
Just a few photo points and about 60km on the Anne Beadell Highway.
One point was off a lesser used side track.

Photo point stop, Tallaringa CP.

There is evidence that a bulldozer was used to upgrade the Anne Beadell in addition to one or more graders. This was not just a quick top scrape.

The wildflowers are stunning, but I reckon they will be even better in a week or 2, so if that interests anyone, get out here soon!

We had not seen any tourist vehicles since before Maralinga. We heard a group on the radio at Emu, but never saw them. Today we saw one vehicle towing an "off road" van heading west. The driver reckoned it was good for "off road", so would be fine. He was going west to WA.

We are camped in the Tallaringa CP, close to the east boundary.

Hi Peter, there is evidence in your video of green stuff in the wheeltracks suggesting little or no recent traffic and a bit of rain along there. Looks very attractive and I am envious. Should be a bumper season for wildflowers.

Yes Allan. It certainly suggested that there has been little traffic since the grading. The rain has been varied by the look of it with some places much wetter than others.

The 30-40km east of Tallaringa were the worst of the road and the wettest with detours around wet patches still active. That bizarre loop along the boundary fence to the gate is still there. Must be a story to that?
