Sounds like a power connectivity issue. Are you using a cig plug? When it goes off have you tried pulling out the cig plug connector and pushing back in?

My experience with a similar issue with the AI box..(not the dash mounted screen) was that despite changing cables I discovered there are USB cables and USB cables!

Some are designed to supply power and data and others power and only limited data.

After a lot of messing around I used a cable from a hard drive (designed to supply power and to transfer lots of data) and it worked perfectly. No separation issues on the worst corrugations.

I then sourced another cable that clearly stated on the pack for data transfer....I don't recall the rate, but it was high.... not just an ordinary USB cable

I understand you have tried to eliminate potential connection issues for the power but consider doing as I did.... try using a portable hard drive cable...it might help you.

You didn't mention the actions you have done before asking for assistance and that may have altered the responses somewhat. Although a suitable usb cable may be required, if it works and then doesn't, it indicates SOMETHING ELSE. Seeing you have soldered connections to the ciggy plug ( never a reliable source of supply at best of time) I would be looking for LOOSE, DIRTY, poorly contacting LOOM plugs supplying the ciggy power. I know you said you have used it on other supplies , but If the USB entry to the DEVICE is allowed to FLICK around while connected, often the VERY small USB contacts simply lose connection if moved while in use. It might look ok and feel ok but any up/down movement CAN cause disconnection, Which USB type is it into the device? Some are dodgy or close to dodgy all the time. They don't touch by much! Some USB cables don't allow FULL ENGAGEMENT into the USB port. I have had to trim the plastic on some to get them to fully enter the port in the device!

I soldered wires direct to the cigarette lighter plug on the end of the power cord ( the male end) so I can’t be a bad connection there.
