Hinges for fridge.

Yeah I did spray some WD 40 on it the other day lol. I could probably make hinges as well but I thought the must be someone out there who has either some old ones or a source to find them

Don't use WD 40, it is a WATER DISPERSER and is NOT a LUBRICANT or RUST PREVENTATIVE.

A horrible product. I have not bought that stuff for 35 years at least. Lanolin spray , ok! Best to treat the rust properly if of value!

Converted all the rust on my sliders.

Yeah I think that is the one and I saw that but says out of stock. Might give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for that.

I don't think they are the same. Pretty sure. Mine fix with small metal threads not screws. I think I've come up with a fix anyway. They are not broken completely just cracked. They have pockets in the back I think I could fill up with araldite or similar and get away with it. Thanks anyway.

Thanks that could work. Not sure how thick the edge of the lid is but as I just said to Alan B I might pour some araldite in behind and I think that might be enough. I'll keep in mind if my cunning plan fails.

Why would you use araldite? You said it has threads (or I think you said that) in the Lid. can't you unscrew the Hex heads and replace the hinge?

It appears to have three threads above and below the lid line on each side. Just use the threads which are there, OR is there something you aren't telling us YET! The LID and Base must have sufficient Threads for the OE screws to fasten to!

Replace the hinge with what? They are not available as stated. I need to have a hinge that matches the screw pattern. I can strengthen the hinges by filling the voids in the back with araldite. How do I stop answers. I was chasing someone who knew where I could get hinges. I can't do will have to fix by one of the methods stated.

I you cannot get same bolt pattern. Buy some wide plate hinges and DRILL holes to match and use OE screws.
The OE hinges don't have voids, or don't appear to have. so any flat plate hinge will be the same!

EVEN if it does have voids, why is that a problem?

That could work. Not sure what's in the fridge material to screw into. As said somewhere I'm going to beef up the hinges I have as they are only partly cracked thru. I'll

This esky is only very thin plastic and screws doesn't do much, the silicon does most of the work, just need to find the right type i think .

Unless you can roughen in the internals of the square voids, the Araldite won't adhere to the plastic. It won't stick very well anyway! To be of use, Araldite would have to have a TENSION STRENGTH, which is POOR anyway.
Because of the stepped face, any flat hinge with a suitable thickness packer will make it a secure hinge system. With the forces applied to crack the OE hinge, the Araldite will simply GIVE UP too!

FIX it PROPERLY ONCE, then all is OK!

Could that be recreated with a 3D printer ?

Kirk, the hinge is probably manufactured from acetylene resin, glass-filled nylon or one of the ethylene materials, all of which are difficult to bond with epoxies. However, if I was to try, I would use JB Weld as you have done. Araldite has low tensile strength.
Bit late now but sometimes in similar situations I have drilled a countersunk hole or two in the product so that the JB Weld flows through and form a rivet effect rather than relying solely on the surface adhesive for strength. Always effective. But what you have done may do the trick.

Yes a mate suggested that. I'm not sure on the 3d stuff but certainly an option if my cunning plan doesn't work.
