Hello all, unfortuantly it seems i wil have to give up work for a few weeks and spend time chasing tailor fishing on fraser,bugger...question is there still an independant operating a barge to fraser from
inskip point or has the other bloke finally secured a monopoly.BTW on chasing up accomodation on the island i found everyone offering discounts eg.we have been offered a house at
eurong for $60/night late august for two people hardly worth towing the van and camping, have been offered 50% discount at kingfisher also is there a lull in tourism???any advice appreciated.Thankyou

the "other bloke" is now Kingfisher, but they have very clerverly left original names on all the buses, barges and resorts that they bought last year!!
And yes, the Manta Ray (green and yellow) is still the indepandant barge and it is still running
As for accomodation, have a look in the back of your RACQ magazine

Sorry to hear of your predicament Brian. You will be saddened to hear that all the above advice is incorrect. In fact Kingfisher was able to extablish a monopoly on Fraser, however they ran foul of the ACCC and have had to close access to the island. It has been turned into a Tailor sanctuary, with the onyl access being via sighseeing by air. Guess you'll have to go back to work.
Any resemblance to actual truth is denied in the above diatribe. Go via the Manta Ray and help support the independant, and for those prices I would take the accomodation on the island. We loved Fraser when we were there except for the rain every day. I would love to be there when it was WARM and DRY hahahahahah.
All the best.
