Well guys , got the head off today , was very suprised to see such good bores for over 300,000 kms . It looks like she let go between the middle cylinders . All else looks fine . The Valve seats "were" done as the previous owner stated . It seams they removed the head to do the Valve seats , and used the same head bolt . This seams to be a no no . I was going to change pistons , but i have no movement in the bore . Who knows , Might make it to Gembrook after all lol

Mate did the same in his GQ after 545,000 klms.. Still see the hone marks in the bores from new....

Thats the trick, good maintance.. Nick does Nissan filters and Rimula X oil every 5000klms.. Its paid off.

Nick had already bought most of the rebuild kit inc sleeves andbleep, its now up to about $7grand, all genuine nissan bits, and he is gettin EVERYTHING done. valves, new cam, sleeves pressed in, it will be a work of art when he is finished..

then again he could have gone a crate V8 Chev for less in the end LMAO

Pesty.

By the time he is finished, it will be 10k at least. he hasnt got the head back yet from the builder!! Probably well over 10! the car is an 89 GQ! The engine will be worth more than the car.

Where to get a crate motor for 10, dude I 4wd with, his bro in law imports motors.. thats what he was quoted one for his GU 4500 petrol.

There's a business in Brunswick W.A. that specialises in the V8 Chev deisel conversions. Seem quite cheap and got a good reputation. It was last Saturday's "West Australian" newspaper - Motoring Section.
