I recently bought a MQ Patrol with the L28 motor done 210 000 km, does anybody know what kind of mileage these motors go up to? What are there are weak points? And what to keep an eye out for...

Rick,
The only problem I had with mine was every time we went bush I got mud in the PCV valve and had to replace, gave up in the end. Should be good for mileage as they have a flat torque curve so thrashing them has no real value. Mine didn't get to 200,000 before I got rid of it so can't tell you any more on that side.

All depends on this history of the engine. Some are doing 300+klms, numerous arent. I think the reasoning is the cheap price of them MQ with the low power L28, so young dudes just buy them for a drive-into-the-ground type hack.

There are still a few in our club that have had theirs since new! Swear by them too.

All depends on what you want the car for, towing, touring, or just a fun truck.
