take SWMBO car shopping! There I was with my head under the bonnet of a GQ checking things out when dearest calls
"Look what I have found........" I look......
"Nah its a bloody X Trail...softroader".....
"Ooohhh but its nice and look at that champagne colour....can we take it for a spin?"
To humour her we go for spin and we both like it.
It is a 2003 X Trail ST with 28,000 on the clock.
"Yeah, but what about me?" sez I.

The end result is to trade the Commodore and scratch some moola out of the bank account.

2003 Nissan X Trail ST
1994 Nissan GQ ST(everything electric) 4.2 diesel

So at last we are getting some updated vehicles. Pick them up next Wednesday.

Did someone say I was jumping ship????........hahahahaha

X-trails.. wife wanted one too, we looked at them, they are SOoooooooooo tinny.. You look at them they dent. 1 shoppin trolley at Coles, and she will be a write off!

thats why we went the pathfinder. TONS stronger... specially for shoppin trolley work.

A GQ.. Welcome to the REAL world Mr.

Mate has a set of genuine Nissan manuals for sale, they are worth bout $400, I think he will let go for about $80ish.. I can ask if you like.

Actually Truckster the front guards and lights on the X-Trail are plastic and designed to bounce the shoping trolly off with no damage. Supposedly good for impacts up to about 5k/h.

At least that is true of the early ones. I was looking at one in yard when they first came out when the salesman wanders up and kicks it just above the front wheel. I saw it deform and spring back into place.

Hey Willem

Is the GQ Orange

The doors arent! I lent on one and did about $5k damage.
You could lean on the pathy ones with no issue at all.

2 seaters now, with air tanks with outlets all round the car, 3 batteries, stainless water tanks under the floor, showers, water taps in the back, fully self sufficent travelling machines..

You should come to the club property one weekend when we have a workin bee, or something like that, its phukin amazin... the cars would barely move they have that much kit in them!!!

Well, well, well (three holes in the ground) at long last. gee this has been a protracted birth. I can remember talking about this with you over 12 mths ago, Congrats on a final and wise decision. Rosie must now have some historical value, is there a museum nearby ??
and you going to strip any gear off the old girl, and I don't mean SWMBO.

Trouble with you young fellas is that whenever you have a bit of spare cash, it burns a hole in your pocket. Talk about the impulsiveness of the young.....

Congratulations anyway - they are terrific and I am sure that you will be still able to keep up with the Subys.

Cheers

2. and never never never never take them shopping
3. when we say NO!...we mean it!

Willie,

Heather had told me of the post. Congratulations mate on your purchases and to Judith too. We will look forward to seeing you two in one or other of the new cars near mid month. Look forward to sharing a glass or two of red too then.

Will catch up a bit more when I am back on line at home. Am not out 4bying at the moment but still on battery power for the puter and getting near full charge for me.

Best of luck friends...

Willem - and others,
I just went round the merri-go-round of choice. Got myself the TI-L with sunroof and a tube of sunscreen for the balding scalp.

I think I test drove everything but -hey- what new car dosent feel good around the block. There were noticible differences in all brands on offer but I guess the best car is the one that suits your needs.

I almost got the terracan (sorry boys) but I drive 30K a year on freeway for work which equates to an extra $2500 in petrol a year. I am not sure if I will miss the Low Range though.

BUT -
Will the X-Trail get me on (and off) Frazer; Morton; Sand in general?
Where have you taken it?
Where have others taken theirs?
Do I need permits to get onto NSW or QLD Beaches?

Magoo
