Generally spacers do go at the top but on a GQ/GU they definately go on the bottom. Spacers always go on the flat end of the coil. The GU/GQ front locates at the top and is not flat, the bottom is tapered but the spacers do go on the bottom.

Have a re-read everyone. he is stating 2 things.
1) He wants to replace the Original OEM rubber that goes on the top of the spring.
2) He wants to space the spring up.

This is the rubber that stops it going metal on metal. Stop them banging and clunking when offroading.

Had a mate who works for one of the big 4wd co's help me last sunday when we lowered my car, he used one of these spacers on the bottom under the spring, and we replaced the top rubbers. They arent much, $10-15ea.

So, my suggestion - Replace the rubber on top, and if you must, use a spacer on the bottom.

Hi Truckster, I am not sure why our instructions are conflicting but i went to my vehicle not even 1 minute ago just to recheck incase i was wwwrrrrrong (fonzi style), i have put my spacers in the front on the top because they would not fit the bottom even if i wanted to put them there...
The bottom of the spring has a small inner coil which locates onto the diff and a wide coil at the top which is the only place by miles i can fit the spacer.....
Are there different styles of spacers?...
In all of my GQ's i have only seen this style...
I just dont want to be giving out totally opposing answers because some people rely on what is said here...

Headin to mates place again tonight to do panhard bushes... Will have another look.

We did use the spacer on the bottom, cause the rubber on top of the shock is fubar on mine, we used cable ties to hold it in place. Will price them when im at nissan in about 1/2 hour!
