I am thinking about getting GME 3400 for my GU patrol. Can anyone tell me if the remote head can be installed up on the roof one the map reading light assembly?

Don't know about the GU Patrol but I have seen pictures of this in a 100 Landcruiser on the 100SCOOL yahoo site. Why not apply for membershipo and have a look at the pics.
I think that the guy who did it was Mike Sterling who is a member of that site. He had to make up some custom cables. Remote head was installed in the sunglass holder in the overhead console, he could even close the holder and hide the radio.
I looked at doing it with my 100TD at the time but did not proceed.

I looked at that idea also but reaconed it looked messy with the mic & cord hanging down. I opted to locate
mine on the remote head bracket & attach it to the centre consol just in front of the gear lever - the mic is attached neatly to the side of the consol and I fitted a remote speaker under the dash panel just to the left of the steering column. When travelling I just lie the mic between my legs if I'm using it regularly otherwise it's handy by my left knee on the clip. The radio body is tucked up under the dash on top of the tunnel and there is no
sign of wiring except for the mic cord.
Hope this gives some useful ideas.

The LC100 solution inclluded a mic extention so that only the remote head was in the console. The mic cable came from the centre console.

Hi Adrian,
I asked the same question a couple of months ago and was told to place the remote head just below the airconditioner controls. It fits really
well and is out of the way. The speaking fits near the steering column or if you don't have a passenger air bag, behind the glove box.
Tried to ghet a phot up but it did not work.
Cheers,
Patrick

I have the remote head for
mine (GQ patrol) down between the gear lever housing and the small area that has the cup holder/spare change holder. It fits nicely there out of the way and the mic is on the side, also keeping it out of the way.
regards
Bryan

Adrian,
Mate of
mine just had a 3400 head remoted on the end of the roof assembly as you describe (in a GU)
Has a Mic extension so that there is nothing hanging down.
Looks very neat
