Hi guys,
I'm after a bit of help with my 97 RX3.0 GQ Patrol (RB30 motor). I'm having trouble with the secondary cutting in on the carby and I understand that this is a common problem. Can anyone suggest a fix, or alternatively, a good replacement carby.

I have looked at a few sites but they all seem to refer to the RB30 fuel injected motor and I don't want to go down that road if I can help it.

Hi Archie43,

had a RB30 GQ for many years, now replaced bu a 4.8 GU.

If you are in Melbourne try Russel Guest 4 x 4 in Fairfield. They tricked up my carby to give improved performance. Well worth the money.
Happy 4 wheeling

Your right it's a pretty common fix to the RB30, if they know what they are doing they will also bring in the secondaries a bit sooner and a few more carby mods will make a big difference as Woodsy said. Motosons in Brisy also do the work. Were are you??

About as far away as you can get (of course), Perth.

I spoke with a carby place over here today who claim that they can fix the problem by tapping out the venturi valves (?) and the hole into the vacuum chamber.

I sort of know what they are saying but I'd like to make sure before I commit. Any thoughts ?

What sort of cost?

Once they take on the issue, its their problem, specially if they way THIS **WILL** FIX IT. Inform them that you expect it to be fixed by this, and if it doesnt fix it then you pay no more and they have to fix it, and they better be certain!

Go for it I reckon!

They want $350 to fix it (includes a full service etc). As you say, this isn't too bad IF it fixes the problem. It's a great bus except for that one fault.
