Hi,

I've noticed that the 4.2 litre GU has quite a few fusible links under the bonnet. What do other do on long remote trips, take spares or do bother??

What is the "alt s" fuse under the bonnet of the same vehicle?? Is is alternator signal??

Regards

Hi Austravel
The GQ has them as well. I have replaced all of mine with decent cable and fuses. Fusible links seem to deteriorate with age and create a voltage drop. Replacing them actually made my headlights brighter and improved the ignition system performancer.
Cheers

G'day Aus,
I have a fair collection of them also. I made a note of what size they were and went into Repco and bought a bunch of replacements. About $5 each. be aware that there are different sizes (physically) and ratings (as in amperage).
