Go_Offroad is an interesting pic and a warning to IFS 100 people.

Is a puzzle at the missing posts if this was what yours was about. I responded to one the other day and Heather said it was one of a few where the sequence was missed. I hope I have not condemned yours now.

A good friend up the sunshine coast has had the same problem.
VERY few dirt road klms and no serious 4WDing at all.
Dealer "said" they'd not seen it before.........

Who'd want IFS- more trouble than it's worth IMHO. I know some will disagree, but it'll be interesting to see how they feel when they have trouble thousands of kays from nowhere- even if it's as simple as a torn CV boot.
Cheers

Flash, saying that ALL IFS vehicles experience problems because of the 100 series is like saying that ALL diesel engine have problems because of the GU series II.

And Flash, you obviously don't know alot obout IFS vehicles as a torn boot is not going to stop you going anywhere, I had torn boots on my Rocky's CV's for years before they packed it in after a trip to wedge island and some salty sand finally got it's way it there.

PS, Flash, have a look at my Rig Pic and tell me how easy you think it would be to damage my CV boots, they are tucked up out the way, the front diff is also tucked up out the way behind a cross member and then a bash plate goes over that, show me a Live axel vehicle with that much protection...
Live axel vehicles just hang their wedding tackle out waiting to hit a termite nest and destroy your front diff.

Great post Darren
I read your post from Friday and the link was only to the photo, not the thread as in this instance.

Bit funny that it has gone missing, it's an important topic that needs to be discussed to ensure an informed market place.

I also notice that a few other posts are missing if you check the number run than you will see a few empty spots so to speak.

Thanks for the info.

John,

It is not missing it is on page 2. There are two posts that have been removed since Friday - One a duplicate loaded in error and another from Eric that we have already talked to him about. In the last three weeks there has been only 8 threads removed due to moderation, sometimes we load test threads a kill them off to test a new function or repond to feedback from others that report problems with posting, so the ID list is not always a good guage to the possible moderation of the system.

We have had some feedback in the last few days that some people need to perform a refresh on subsequent pages of the forum system - this may be why you guys did not see the original post from GO_OFFROAD however it is still sitting there.

I called the service manager at Toyota in Alice Springs who said they had only ever seen 2 of these and only on IFS cruisers with aftermarket T'Bars.

I'll be keeping an eye on mine.

Heard of another 100 IFS diesel 1hdfte today, new, with standard T bars, and shocks,Only done 5000kms but in its only dirt run he hit a creek crossing in the Flinders a bit hard (bottomed out).

Has the cracks that are the start of the A arm losing the section the T bar mount bolts too at the weld.

We are putting together a database on the 100scool email list at www.lcool.org on the ones we hear about, so if anyone hears of any more please send me the vehicle build date, engine type, T bar type [ie standard, adjusted, aftermarket] shocks fitted, and acc [ie winch bullbar dual batteries etc] and anything else you think may be relevent, thanks.

The prado is a better set up IMHO, as it is coil over strut front end, and the factory bushes lastw ell in this set up,a nd there is no torsion effect on anything like the 100 series set up.

I think I can say they are pretty robust, the rack steering ends on the 90 series seem to be the first part to wear, and they are easily replaced, my car gets a pretty good go in the bush, have bent 2 ROH track 2 rims so far, run 40 series offset, so they are 16x8" and stick out well, and havent damaged the front end of the vehicle yet, and only knocked the front end out of alignment slightly once, but that was when I put the biggest bend in the rim too ;-)

Oh what a feeling...

Almost as good as a 3.0 GU.

But in all seriousness this could really get dangerous if it let go at 100kph or so on freeway, or crossin the desert at pace.

What do we know about Toyota's attitude towards fixing these when after market T Bars are fitting?

My discussions with Toyota Customer Relations and Toyota dealerships is not encouraging.

Its fair to say, given the data base we have now started on the 100scool email list at www.lcool.org that now the arms are shown to be an issue with standard shocks and T bars, toyota cant say the aftermarket T bar could be the cause of the issue.

Toyota are usually very good with warranty issues, and if you are having a problem, normally it means just go to another dealer.

I note you are in Melbourne, and from the www.lcool.org guys, Nunawading Toyota has ben excellent to deal with re warranty issues in the past.

May be worth a try if your current dealer isnt helpful.
