Numerous people using Aust 4wd insurance.. but when I got a quote for my GQ, they were double what the others were. As for claims, I think they are all the same. You will struggle like an epileptic in quicksand to get money out of them as you are finding. Fine print that the Hubble cant pickup or Einstein cant understand.
Give Brian Holland of Hollands Insurance Brokers in Mt Martha Vic a call. He is a Nissan club member, and deals with many club members helping them out. Nice bloke too. PH: 97752355 Have a word to him, it can't hurt.
I went with Unique Car Insurance. They werent the cheapest, and shaft you also on accessories. You need an independant valuation on accessories over $4k, which in reality isnt hard to get to!
TCIS wont do any
suspension lifts anymore.
RACV who knows, they came to our club giving a speil on how they wanted the "HELP 4WDERS" with insurance, but havent heard much since - that was about 12 mths ago. Might ask next meeting to see where they are with it.
Also give the 4wd association a call. they have an insurance Officer that maybe able to give you some tips, and ideas.
Good luck dude.

Thanks for your info
Been speaking to a few people in the insurance industry got same answer... Don't trust anyone who underwrites there own policies ??
Insurance brokers only deal with company's who are underwritten by larger companies, if that makes sense ???? it is all confusing untill we make a claim !!!!
All I know is that since my problem arose it is unbelievable the amount of people who I have come across who have problems with AAMI !!!
I have been told that in the eastern suburbs there is a sticker getting around on vehicles - AAMI "We care" untill you make a claim !!
Think I might start same out west ???
Let's hope none of us have to find out the hard way !!!!
Cheers

Do a search on Aust 4WD and CGU in the archives. I had major problems with them after they took my money I went to make a claim after 5 years of being with them and they told me that they had no record of me even being with them in the first place. they cashed my cheques for 5 years.
Also do not touch ARB or BRA or whatever they call themselves these days as they are bodgey when trying to claim too.
Do a search and all will be revealed

Hi floyd
I know exactly what you mean, I have been with AAMI for that long I can't remember !!!!
The best advice I can give is list "ALL" accessories and keep all receipts and read policy "REALLY" closely, we all have a tendancy to take the easy option " its not going to happen to me !!!!
I know I did ???? I got shafted !!!!
Thanks mate
Barry.

Flloyd, it wouldnt be hard to prove then they took your $, and infact you are insured, apart from the fact you have paperwork from them when you paid, or got renewals...
Did you end up gettin paid?

In the end I got coverage and it turned out that the people who took my money (Aus 4WD) had not passed on my details or money to the underwriters (CGU). I went through 3 months of stress and agressive phonecalls from both organisations and in the end threatened to go to the insurance ombudsman. They then sorted it out.
I have been with AAMI for 5 years and had to make my first claim after hitting a roo at 90 kms on my road. The local inspector for them is in Shepparton ( a 4 hour round trip from here) and he came to me, organised the repairer and all details. It could not have been easier. I am a very happy camper. Had absolutely no problems, stress or issues to deal with.

Barry, you should also post your story on outerlimits, overlander, 4wdmthly, 80scool, 4wd_out_of_melbourne/brisbane/tassy,
perth,
adelaide, and every other
forum you can find.
Then inform them that you are keeping about 30,000 other 4wders in
the loop as to how your claim is going.. Treat them likebleep, as they are to you..
