John
A college at work was telling me of the regenerative powers of a couple of cappuccinos and the friendly countenance of the people at the C’
park and
Birdsville in general (some folks who helped with his gear on his way out) following his misadventures in trying to ride across the Simpson on his motorcycle. Your comment on the availability of sympathy for falling over while drunk would be pretty much on the Mark. So I thought this would be reason enough to pass it on as we found the same on our visits with you (2002 and 2003)
Your post on “the dune claims another bike rider” was added to the multitude of bits and pieces of info provided in an attempt to dissuade him, but all proved fruitless, as you will be able to attest to. Any other details that you might wish to pass on would be of great interest (purely for non belittling purposes).
He has however, I think, as
well as a dose of reality, caught the bug for the experience of just sitting on the top of a dune with a cuppa, no more bike though.

Oh dear! Glad he got home (eventually in one piece). an Isreali rider is hobbling around today very sore from a small misadventure on the Big Dune - and he only tried one.

A very steady 5 days to get home and a bit over a week of unused time off that was very handy.
