I have a 2001 Prado turbo diesel, plated 03/2001. What is the accepted series designation for it ?? ie. 90, 95, 120 etc.

All 1995-2002 Prados are commonly called "90series".
But in Australia, we only got the 95 series which are the 5door Prados.
Only the 3door models overseas were "90".

Phil,
Does that make
mine actually a 125 series? Saw this on the cover of the workshop manual recently talked about on here.
Is the 120 the 3 door and the 125 the 5 door?
Cheers

I saw them in NZ with their round headlights. Would be good fun to play in :-)

I'm not sure about the 125 series. Lift your bonnet, and read it off the plate on the firewall, and see what you have.

Thanks Phil
Had a look in the service manual. Model is KZJ120R-GKMETQ.
Looks like 120 series it is!

Muddy,
How are you finding the four litre? I test drove one (city only unfortunately) before we sold our Jeep and found it to be "very nice, thankyou very much". We were close to handing over a fist full of paper to get one but ended up striking a pretty good deal on one of the last of the 3.4 GXL's. We love it. However, in leaping from a '98 Cherokee to the Doe, it felt sluggish to say the least. But in saying that, there's no way I would step back.
Although the Jeep could give most 6cyl sedans a run for their money on a sealed straight, I found that the vehicle weight (or lack thereof) put me in many an undesirable position, both on road, and off.
The Prado behaves really
well on road, and flawlessly off.
Interested to hear you thoughts.
Cheers,
Chaba.

Hi Chaba,
Mine is the 3 litre Turbo Diesel, not the 4 litre petrol if that is what you mean.
I am very happy so far. It would not have the off the line urge of the petrol but it cruises along really nice and overtakes
well. Has handled the few off-road excursions pretty
well so far but i have not done anything too major yet.
Spending 4 days at
Robe in SE south Australia soon with lots of people from this
forum. Lots of nice
sand dunes to play in so looking forward to experimenting there! Can't fault it on road so far but you just have to remember that it is a 2 ton truck and not a 800kg sports car!
Cheers
