Can anyone tell me what the factory rated horsepower of a Hilux 2.4 Diesel engine is? I wish to use one of these engines for a different application and require this spec.

Hi Jiarna,
Been a while following up as I've been away. First trip away in my Hilux WITHOUT the 2.4D - have 253'd it and drives beautifully!
Anyway, the 2.4D I am wishing to set up on an irrigation spray pump. I need to size the pump correctly so hence the need to have an accurate power rating on the engine. It's in VG cond having been rebuilt not long ago, so it would be close the factory rating. Can you tell me where to find a factory rating for one? The 61kW rating you gave me does sound a bit high. Failing that do you know anyone who has had a stock 2.4D on a dyno?

Best bet would be to check the specs in a workshop manual - sorry can't help with that!

Might be right, although I have the 2.8 rated at 68kW. Still struggles to pull the skin off a bowl of custard.
