Fill it full of gravel, with some kero (don't use petrol - one spark and BOOM) and shake it around - a lot!
Flush it and do it again, again. Finish it off with a last flush with hot soapy
water or degreaser/kero and then hot soapy
water.
Let it dry out fer a week or two. Then make sure you fit a line filter in the line prior to yer main fuel filter.
Is this a petrol vehicle or a diesel vehicle? You can use a petrol
tank on a diesel or vice-versa. Makes no never mind.

Make that "gravel", blue metal size. That way you can shake it and see if you've left a piece of bluemetal in it.
