I have done a search of the archives, and read some info how to figure out if a GQ has been lifted, and by how much. Truckster supplied a list of heights taken at the rear bumpstops, standard height 75mm gap, 2" lift 125 mm, plus or minus 10 to 15mm.
Mine measures at 90mm that's with a home made set of drawers and
tools and recovery gear in them, so I am still not 100% sure if time and wear tear would take a 2" lift down to 90mm, or the standard height is around 90 mm and just not sagging much with the weight of the gear thats always in the back. I have checked
the springs but can't find any markings. I want to buy a set of Polyairs, but need to know before I order them
Also, anyone have any idea on what you should disconnect before you do any welding to the body of a diesel GQ with a twin battery set up.
thanks
Glenn

As I'm now a retired sparky you disconnect to earth from either the battery before you start and welding on a vehicle. I also have a GQ
well its a Maverick SWB check under the foot wells under the vehicle for cracks this is common for any GQ that has done hard 4wdriving. It's where the floor pan and the fire wall meet and are spot welded together. It's nothing what a MIG cant fix.

grammer mistake: disconnect the earth on both battery's before any welding.
Sorry about that

Thanks Rossco, that's exactly where the crack is, I wanted to check before I got the MIG onto it, never had a dual battery system car before and thought better to ask a fairly obvious question before I got stuck into it
