G'day Folks,
Just chasing some info, i am going to install an electreic ariel in the cruiser and was wondering how i go about it. i mean is it just a case of unscrewing the
guard to expose the previous ariel.i had a look in the manual and there is no
instructions on
what to take off and where panel wise. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Don

Howdy Don,
I thought it might be that easy but I bought a workshop manual from gregories and it walks you through the job. To access the back of the stereo to unplug and plug in the new aerial you have to remove the entire front of the dash board and steering wheel. It was a massive job and even then I had trouble reaching in behind things and scrapping knuckles etc. I was replacing the aerial with a non electric spring mounted jobbie that does the job
well. In hindsight I would have paid someone who has done the job before to do it for me it was a pain in the poo shooter.
Good luck,
Charlie

Want to know a good trick?
If all you are doing is replacing the aerial................. you don't have to remove the stereo. On any car!!
All you do is remove the trim for where the aerial cable comes into the cabin and cut the cable. Then remove the old aerial and replace it. When you run the new cable into the cabin just put a car aerial socket (available from any electronics or auto
shop) on the old aerial cable which still goes to the stereo and plug the new aerial in. Easy. (bet you wish you new this before!)
Although if you are replacing a push down with an electric you will need access to the power antenna wire so that usually means removing the stereo. Don't forget to put a switch inline so you can put the electric aerial down when listening to CDs though.

Well I don't know about cruisers but this is what the norm is.
1. Remove the plastic inner guard or remove enough clips/bolts to bend it out of the way.
2. There should be some sort of bracket holding the aerial on. Unbolt this.
3. Then (if there is one) unscrew the plastic cover from the top of the aerial on the outside (top) of the guard.
That should have the aerial removed.
