I will soon be looking for some new tyres and am wondering if anyone has gotten good mileage from goodyear mt/r's and what their puncture resistance is like on dirt roads with stony surfaces. Looking at LT265/75 R16 on a GU. Cheers

Warty,
Have had MTR's on tojo turbo ute since last year and have just replaced them after 53K clicks. Only 2 flats, and I put these down to either weak tubes, or dry grass stalks penetrating the side walls. Real good in mud, and handle
well on blacktop.
Like them enough to keep buying them. Am using 235/85R16's on factory split rims(bit narrow), but they'd be good 6" - 7" rims. We've got enough stone here, in
Winton area, to test them out.
Hooroo...

Thanks Bob, 53k sounds like good mileage for a mud terrain. I've heard mud tyres can tend to get stones penetrating the carcass but hasn't happened to yours. Cheers

I use 'm and have had one destroyed with a metal spike through the side out near Hermansberg. Done 45k so far & reacon they have another 15 in 'm yet. I know a Coopers agent who uses thee MTRs on his own wagon. Do a search on previous posts, there's plenty of info on this site.
My rig pic shows me on
the ridge off Big Red using the MTR's.

Had 2 sets now, 33 x 12.5, and 285x75x16's.
Did 60 thousand on the first set with no problems, had about 30% tread remaining, and only done a coupla thousand on the second set. However, would recommend very highly.
Shop around for the best price...
Cheers
Chris.

What state are you in?
in melb, call The Tire Factory.. Get a price, wait a day call back, talk to someone else, and drop $30 a tire off the first quote... it works.

Done 25,000k on 265/75r16 on a Prado - hardly worn - 11mm of tread left. No punctures despite most of these k's being offroad -
Madigan Line, Anne Beadell Hwy,
Flinders Ranges etc etc
Best tyre I've owned.
