Read an interesting article in a magazine today whilst in the Dr's waiting room ... about some people in England being prosecuted in England for tax evasion. Guess how??? they were avioding paying tax on their diesel fuel by " brewing a diesel fuel substitute from used vegetable oil collected from several fast food shops and blending it with ethanol/methanol...." I was amused that the charge was tax evasion but struth if the Windsor family is in such dire straights that a chap cant make his own fuel cheaply & not pay the tax on it ...
well think of the consequences.. on the other hand if EIIR wanted someone to make cheap fuel for her "landy" then they would be making diesel by appointment to her majesty... and you can bet your BiPpy she wouldn't pay tax on it!

One wonders if they get to claim their materials and equipment, and labour costs against the tax bill. Nah - it is the Mother Country after all .....
I recall in the 70s reading about a number of entertainers earing so much, that with the way the tax was structured (the more you earn the higher percentage you pay) one artist was actually liable for a tax bill for more than he had earned.
They seem to like their taxes.

Speaking of BP. It's a long story which I won't expand upon now, however the financial roots of British Petroleum came from Mt.
Morgan, Queensland.
Makes for an interesting yarn.

Another partner was William Knox D'Arcy, who, having made an incredible £6 million from his share in the
mine by 1889, went to London and later made another fortune when he financed oil drilling in what was then Persia (now Iran). It was the latter venture which led to the formation of the famous BP Company
You never stop learning ah

I think that's the bloke I'm referring to. He almost went broke backing the search for oil.

It is exactly the same here, if you make your own BioDiesel you should be registered and pay excise. 38c/L even for personal non-commercial use.
Check with the aTO if you dont believe me.
