Sorry I am a bit late in adding to your post 15774,but the faithful engine replaced parol has been dragging my c/van across W.A.
I was interested to see that Alan F has approached the consumer affairs dept to obtain info from Nissan in regard to engine failures.
I also have taken this course, even forwarding your entry on this site for information.
Apparently Nissan is to ring me to give reassurance!
I have requested in writing details from Nissan as what happened to cause the failure, and what has been done to rectify the design fault.
Now I am back home I will restart the pressure for an answer through the consumer affairs.
For your interest my 2000 model replacement engine was fitted with a new loom and sensors, but the original computer was not changed.
Talking to the many owners in WA during our travels, most believe that the oil pick up was increased on the later engines,as captain has detailed.
My truck went very well on our trip, returning 18 mpg with a 18ft van behind at 90 kmh mostly.
There would not be a better tow vehicle on the road in this class,I just need to know it will now last!
Regards

Hi fourstall2000,

I am glad to hear all went well for you, makes me very jealous stuck here behind the desk. I too certainly find the 3.0TD a great tow vehicle, regardless of what others speculate.

I hope you have some luck with Nissan and get some facts about the failure, but somehow I think they will simply tow the company line and release minimium information to us mushrooms :( Let us know how it goes.

Cheers

Captain
