A couple of months ago I purchased one of those Bunnings generators for $198 they were rated at 850w peak & 650w continuous. The identical generator is now selling for $98 but is now rated at 750w peak & 550w continuous. If you buy a Millars Falls generator which is the same it is rated at 950w peak & 750w. It seems to me that there seems to be some rubbery figures when advertising these and would appreciate someone with some electrical knowledge that would know the exact output of the same. I have had a 2 x 500watt lights plugged into
mine & it powers them without tripping the breaker. If all of these come from the same factory you would think they would be running the same setup.

No , not rubbery. While they LOOK identical , they are in fact slightly different.
850w , & 750w
The EXACT differences I don't know , buy they ARE different gennies.

Sorry I diagree, yes rubbery, cheap chinesse imported stuff is always like that. Sure they may serve a purpose, but they really just make these specs up. Been there done that.
eg: When I was importing computer power supplies I went to visit our manufactuer in Taiwan. Talking to them about a new range of 300watt Power Supplys. They asked me if I wanted my 300w Power supplys to be 200watts or 250watts....... I said, arrrh, hmmm, how about 300watts? They looked at me like I was mad.
What about these u beut surround sound systems with 50000000000watts of power. What a load ofbleepe. What about the bushranger MaX Air with it's 72LPM for the first 10 seconds and then it drops to under 60LPM. etc etc etc etc
What about my chinesse air compressor that's 160PSI!!!!! Yeah right.

Jeff,
Your forgetting the 500 watt SuperCheap Auto amplifier that's smaller than a car stereo for $50.

theres facts and theres figure's
rubbery figures can be rubbery
but in a most cases i'd say that they ( the manufacturer) state or advertise a certain model has having a certain capacity....what they dont say is that the figure stated is the 'Nominal capacity'
happens in airconditioning
'2hp' could be 1.85 or 2.2hp actual, '3hp' could be 2.75 or 3.25hpactual etc etc ....but kWr (kilowatts refrigeration) output at industry rated guide (australian standards) shows very much different true output capacity for differing makes at 'nominal HP' or nominal kWr capacities...
in 99.999% of cases its true actual capcity is lower than than advertised 'nominal' capacity
