I tried searching but must be stupid, could not find anything on the
forum. Does anyone know of websites re dog friendly accomodation, especially the type you rent like cabins and on-site vans etc.
NSW and SA in particular

Keep it on a leash if you do go.
I get reallybleepoff when I go on holiday and folks are letting their big dogs run about when my kids are playing.

I happen to agree with you. I have
young children also and cannot cope with dogs being loose.
Mine are two japanese spitz (small version of white samoyds) and the only danger they present to anyone is licking them to death. (kids pets)
Unfortunately they are expensive and could not fight off a mouse so they are the victims of any loose dogs around - I am sick to death of wading into miscellaneous mongrels not under control who are attacking my dogs while I am walking them on a lead. One day I will kill one, that should make for an interesting court case.
