I recently came across a 80 series cruiser in which the owner had extended the seat slides by 50 mm.
I neglected to ask in detail about what he had done to achieve this at the time and obviously now wish that I had.

Does anybody know how this may have been done or has anybody out there done this to their front seats.
I am 6' 6" tall and have always wanted a bit more backward slide on the Toyota front seats.
Engineers certificate aside.

Me too.....not as lanky as yourself LOL but need more leg space....Did you know that the Xtrail has more legspace than the GQ? Maybe if you weld a piece of slide on the the seat slide it will work.

G'Day John ,
I have raised my 80 series front seats by 35mm using longer bolts
thru blocks . Using the same idea just off set the runner mounts backwards by the req. amount . This wont win any points if SWBOA is 4' 6'' . Also raising does increase set back & gives "that prime mover feeling ' at the lights . Good Luck !!

My mate did this on his Hilux. In Qld it requires an engineers certificate (he has the blue Qld Transport modification plate in the engine bay). It was no more complex than seperating the horizontal slide from the vertical struts, welding in a 50mm plate, and re-welding the struts on. Its a common mod for tall people, so any certified engineer with know what to do.

Cheers,

Glenn.

Hi Glenn
That sounds like what I had in mind, kick myself that I did not look properly at the 80 series properly.

Your insurance company may have some thoughts, with or without certification :))

Cheers
