Hi all, my GU has developed a bit of an intermittent sound that only becomes apparent when driving over corrugated or rough surfaces. Hard to describe but it is a bit like a tambourine kind of noise. As if some thing is shaking around from front RHS
suspension area. Not heavy or substantial, seems light a light weight sound.
Haven't jacked it up yet but a quick poke around underneath has failed to locate the source. What's the go with those auto hubs, do they give problems? Always been suspicious of them.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I'll get under it properly over the weekend.

Strange noises come in the weirdest forms at times.
Yesterday I was driving down from
Newcastle on the Freeway, and heard this loud noise very similar to the sound you get when you stick a piece of cardboard onto the spokes of a bicycle. My initial reaction was that I had hit thse bumps on the freeway that are supposed to wake you up if you are wandering off course. But o - I seemed to be clear of those. It came and went, but seemed to be loudest around 105kph.
My next thoughts were (1) my fanbelt was in the process of disintegrating, or (2) I had picked up something strange under the car and it was hitting anything that was moving outside the vehicle. So I stopped to investigate.
I spent about 10 minutes crawling in, under and around the vehicle, but was unable to see anything out of order. I walked to the front of the car .. looked, and noticed a piece of tarred paper stuck to the tyre. Couldn't be that, I thought ... until I attempted to remove it. It was stuck fast. Out comes the trusty knife .. I peel if off .. and on resuming my travel, the sound was gone. How lucky was I that the paper was visible, because I was about 1/4 of a turn from it being under the wheel, or on the other side where I would not have seen it.
I hope your solution is as simple.
Cheers
jack

Hi All,
My GU also does this and is rally irritating. I have removed to plates above the shocks but the noise is still there. Nearly due a service, hopefully they will find the noise. Happy to pass it on if they do.
