Well the time has come, this weekend navigator and I set off across the Anne Beadell for a trip which includes the
Oodnadatta Track, a week in the Flinders, call into
Adelaide and work our way back to
Perth via the
Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas. We are
camping in our Wandering Star trailer, we will be away for about 4 weeks and I have a couple of queries. (a) Can anyone give me any recent info regarding the condition of the SA side of the Anne Beadell? (b) Any suggestions regarding a capable trustworthy mechanic who would service my GU Patrol. Should be due between South Flinders and
Clare. Any info appreciated..
Regards,
Slim.

A friend went a few weeks back. He emailed from the other end, saying that his bullbar brackets that attach to the chassis had cracked and he had to carry it on the roofrack. He has an LC100 series.
Sounds like parts of that track aren't too flash :))
Cheers
Jim

I had my 80 Series serviced at the 4WD Centre in
Clare when I was there earlier this year and was very happy with the service and standard of work there. I *think* if was just called "
Clare 4WD Centre and is an ARB stockist, suitably signposted. You will find it in a street coming into the township on a street that has a service station on each corner, with one of them having a car wash. If I can find my receipt anywehre I will repost details.
Enjoy the trip.

A friend recently did the anne beadell, and said that ok for 100 ks out from
coober pedy, and from there to the border averaged 20-25 ks an hour and from the border into WA it was graded road. Said you would need 10 -12 days to do it comfortable and see things on the way.
Yes I live near
Clare and
clare valley outo is OK. If you need any info or a coffee at
Clare call me 0408 859 201
Cheers Steve

Slim,
I know it's not recent but if you haven't left yet, we did the AB this time last year and WA side is easy going but once into SA especially from EMU on, the corrugations are shocking. We also had our bullbar(alloy) welds fatigue and had to carry it on the campertrailer. The original job was p!$$ poor. No aluminium welders in
Coober Pedy, had to go to
Port Augusta. The spotties fell off and were hanging by the wires before the bar gave up.
Bl00dy great trip though. Loved it.
