Thinking, thinking - had same problem a few years ago with a cruiser - my auto electrician knew exactly what to replace - just can't recall what it was. Started out with a few seconds pause of darkness when dipping, after a while no lights at all on dip - were taking a load of strainer posts on ute plus trailer that night so our high beam were very high - had no choice but to dazzle the oncoming traffic. If this sounds like your problem, i'll think a bid harder

Hi ZTim,
OK, I am not familiar with that model, but assuming it has split power feeds to headlights (ie one fuse drives either left side or right side) the problem could only be the switch or relay where the battery is common.
Sometimes if the high beam is on for a long time the relay contacts can weld themselves. try tapping the relay when the problem occurs, same goes for the switch.
Otherwise get a wiring diagram for the car and check with a test lamp.

I believe that these lights work by switching the earth connection, so check the earth connections on your relays. I had a similar problem on a Falcon, and fixed it by crimping up the loose earth connections.
Cheers
