Spent the weekend on Mt Skene coming up from
Licola side, was 1m snow at
the summit, very soft after the warm days last week.
Sat we drove around aprox 40 cars attempting to get up to
the summit, before having lunch up the top, then returning, driving back around 40 odd cars, in all directions, trying to turn around, stuck, etc etc etc....
Got to the
scenic lookout after doing some virgin snow driving on
the summit.
Even asked one guy stuck in the ruts, whose winch was having trouble, to please hold his cable up while we got out of the wheel tracks, drove under his cable, around the 3 cars, then back into the wheel tracks behind them and continued down the
hill.
Sunday went back up, visited a
well known hut in the area for lunch, no one had driven iinto there so we had to make some snow tracks, once we got past where 3-4 sets of tracks had stopped and turned around, we spent a peaceful lunch break at the hut, before heading back and toward Jamo to go home.
We also managed to drive around 12 odd vehicles stopped, stuck, or parked in snow attempting to come up the Jamo side Sunday afternoon, heading down.
May be time to find another spot to go snow driving in winter..............

Snow is melting fast with all the good weather over the past weeks. After reading all the posts about this trip and last week ends trip to Mt Skene I was looking forward to my trip this week end to McFarlane Saddle and Mt
Wellington. (1634 Metres).
Sad to say it's only patchy now and only about 1-2 feet deep. Still had a blast thou. At least my winch and bullbar paid for itself that weekend. Had to winch my 2 mates up after a short spell of heavy rain and I cleaned up a roo at about 60-70km/h on the way back. No damage glad to say.
