Has anybody had a problem with the
water pump on the GU.
Mine is
starting to get a clacking sound eminating from that area.
Has anyone replaced theirs and if so how long does it take and what
tools are required (torque wrench etc.) What should the bolts be
torqued to, if necessary. The GU has done 74K since new.
Thanks for any assistance, Timg

Gidday, It is not your
water pump but your belts.spray a little
water on the belts and you will find the noise will disappear. You can try adjusting them as they might be a little loose.Let me know what you reckon.
Hope this helps,

Gidday,My GU was the same. When you stand in front of the 4by with your ear next to radiator it sounds like it is going to fall out,The pump I meant.I also thought it was the pump but just the belts. But if you want to fix it for good sell it and buy a TOYOTA.I did and havent regreted it.
Just my bit

If you are sure it is the
water pump then with only 74k since new wouldnt it be covered by warranty? Check everything out first before buying new pump.
Now I know why toyotas are worth more than nissans, they dont have any real problems. Glad i bought a toyota and not a nissan. I couldnt afford to keep it on the road on my pension. OOOOHHH WHAT A FEELING

heres a trick to try, grab some CRC spray it into the belt pullies, and see if noise goes do this with motor idling, it helps to have the little tube on the spray nozzel, clanking sound dont sound like
water pump to me especially only after 74K ,, my thoughts are dry bearings in the belt pullies

Timg, I have had the same problem over the last few weeks.
Nissan said they have had wagons brought in on tow trucks because people feared the worst.
same answer ... the belts
