Hi, Has any one designed and built there own trailer and is so -
is it economical
difficult (I do have welding experience)
where did you get your design from
not neccessarily after a super heavy duty, but a medium duty that I can also use for every day use
a couple of jerry can holders and gas bottle holders
Thanks
Will

do you access to industrial folders, guilotines etc.

I have assisted father inlaw build two for us and he has built about 5 for other people. they are not "campers" but offroad storage trailers that are capable of having a large boat on top.

we have designed our own and seem to add improvements each time.

Hi Wheelerdog,
The short answer to those questions is no.
Did you have a standard design and mod from there, or designed it from the bottom up

started from ground up

see link for pic. this is one of the earlier ones that is now owned by a friend. it has a custom made 240volt deep freeze on the draw bar.

the one we are building at the moment has wing doors on the side and a tail gate set up on the rear with a wing door also.

trailer is all folded and seem welded with no internal frame. it is extremely strong and having no internal frame cuts down weight.

They're a pretty friendly group too, and seem to have the answers to almost any question you can throw at them.

Hi Will I have built an off road trailer and it's a lot of work and yes I did save money eg: to buy the trailer I wanted it would have cost $ 2700 trailer only and it cost me $2100 which I added electic brakes and water tank and shockes for under the $2100. If you send me your e-mail address I will send you some photo's.

Got a brake-compatable hitch (standard ball type) for sale if you decide to go ahead with the project.
