Primus camp showers

Was camping with the designer/maker/wholesaler of this product in the snow on the weekend, was no mention of any issues.

Let us know what they come up with, will speak with them this end.

I may be wrong but I though that was designed in the US...

I have one, bit of a bugger to light first time, trick is to bleed the gas line as you connect it. Other than that it seems fine, although we all jumped the overheat safety switch because it would cut off the gas before it got hot.
Must admit I have been looking closely at the new Coleman hot water service, probably would have bought one for this coming trip if the cartridge to gas bottle adaptor had arrived, not due until the end of this month I believe.

KMart Horsham today had the Coleman HWS in today @$389-.
Not very big unit but Coleman stoves are excellent if a bit poor on finish so
expect the HWS would be VG.
A unit that burns you should be recalled & modded.

we have had some dramas with the Primus, namely, the temp switch is over sensitive, and cuts off the gas way too early.

We have discovered that there is A setting and to not muck with the temp dial. It actually works really well once it's sorted.

We used to have the big ugly blue tripod thing (aussie camp shower I think) man did it make some hot water, and fast, but it also self desructed!

Flyer, I've had the Primus since December 2003. It works great but it is a bit fiddly to set up at first. I bought it because of the safety features. I go camping with the wife and 2 kids (7+3) so the cut off is important to me. I find that if I start it on high and then after its going a couple of seconds I turn it to low then the water is just right for the kids. It also depends on the temp of the water you are pumping into it, the colder the water the higher the temp knob needs to be. You also need to make sure the hoses are rolled out with no kinks otherwise the pump cuts out.

I've used it in various locations including in snow in the High Country for 18 blokes and it worked non stop.

I think i'm convinced once again that the vehicle mounted Heat exchange is the go!!!

I have a primus system and while I havnt used it in anger yet, I do find it a bit fiddly to set up and use. I would be interested in the coleman system. Can anyone provide any info.

I had a Primus & (maybe I'm dumb) couldn't get it to provide a regular supply of water at a comfortable temperature.
People I have talked to had fitted a tap to the supply hose so that the supply of water could be adjusted - like me, they found the showerhead adjustment to be useless.

I went for the heat exchange because of issues that your having, the primus is not the only one of it's type to have these issue's i know this does not help you, i would take it back and get them to fix it properly after all you spend good money for these gadgets they should work properly.
