Saw them advertised in the lastest Auto One brouchure for Fathers Days. Cost was approx $30, there was the Patrol, WRX and one other. Not sure of the quality but I will have a look when I get the chance.

G'day Don,
I have installed one on my 4.2 Turbo Nissan on the opposite side to normal, above the turbo. It's a genuine Nissan product which they got in for me within a couple of days (country town). It cost around $130- and I cut the hole in the bonnet using a masonite template I made up and then attacked with a jigsaw (ouch!!!!!).

Just a thought but a little late now I suppose. Did you consider using some of those heat extractor bonnet vents like on a XR Falcon? So instead of forcing cool air in, you are extracting the hot air?

G'day Utemad,

I originally mounted the scoop facing backwards in an effort to extract hot air out the back. Neither direction seemed to have a marked effect on my problem, which I have since solved by putting in a PWR racing aluminium radiator with double the capacity on the Nissan unit.

Typical, the scoop has bolts situated differently at each end and the centre bolts are not actually in the centre. So there had to be several different holes drilled to mount the scoop in either direction.

Thanks guys
I think he only wants it for looks only and thats it.
I dont think he would cut a hole out of his bonnet
for no reason. So i am pretty sure cosmetic only.
But i have seen it done around though.

I put one on the troopy, cost $130 from Nissan (must be 18 months ago now)

My use has actually been to save my batteries, they sit right above the Turbo and were cooking themselves to death.

In my application, it has worked very well!
