having arrived home several weeks ago .....okay i havent cleaned the car for several months (or is that yrs...she was calling it the pig mobil) i noticed the bull bar had become stained with mud splatters etc etc.

geez this looks like hard work i say to myself...mmm what do i have
er what does she have in the laundry that will clean it ?
scrounging through the cupboard i find some acetic acid, mmm strong vinegar and its bio-degradable ? now we have all seen or heard how good this stuff (vinegar) is for home cleaners i think to myself...mmm should i try it?

It worked for me!

Nissan have some good gear as well, white creamy stuff that's not very expensive suprisingly considering it's from Nissan.

Autosol works good on mirror finish type bars. Brings it back to new. But thats a polish.

If you are keen to try your acetic acid, try it in an area not noticeable first. Or try it all over & tell us it doesn't work LOL.

Cheers

jack, already tried it and it wrked great to get rid of the red clay stains that remained after washing
a rag dabbed with acetic took the stains out

polishing bar the bar is a waste of time.......at least for me...cos it would need cleaning more often than i clean the rest of the beast

Been there done that, use various acids, polish, buffs and decided in the end Alloy is a pain plus I decided to go steel for strenght.

In the end when I had alloy I just got them painted to match the body. much easier to clean.

Thanks for the tip, Nudenut!

I might try it on some stubborn stains this weekend.

try a cut and polish compound , then finish off with a rub of "SILVO" (silver brasso)
hard work if your using it on the whole bar but perhaps in small doses it may be ok,
worked for me,
