Can anyone tell me if I will get along the track around the Gammon Ranges to Arkaroola towing a 1000kg trailer.

Will leave Copley and head up past Mt Searle, Owiandana etc, Bolla Ballana then Arkaroola.

OR would it be best to go to Arkaroola through the Italowie Gorge.

I took the Copely - Italowie - Arkaroola road in mid July, and its was a good quality dirt 2wd road. From memory there may have been a few creek crossings, but it is so dry up there I don't think this will be a problem. I haven't had much experience my self with towing heavy trailers, but there were a heap of carvans / campers / camper trailers at Arkaroola, so they must of got there somehow. Why not give the Arkaroola Village a call and ask them?

either way you will have no problems whatsoever (providing we have no rain). italowie gorge road is a well maintained public road while the roads through bolla ballana via mt serle are good station tracks.mt searle is now owned by the aboriginal community and a courtesy call to charlie jackson on 0886483715 may be prudent. also i think the track traverses umberatana station (ambrose reynolds 0886484820). this way in to arkaroola is far more scenic.

yeah mate. you will have no drama's. the road is a 2wd track but there of heaps of little dry creek beds to drive through which are forever slowing you down and climbing up the other side which could be a pain with a load of 1000kgs behind you. Just go through em slow because the rocks in em are tyre splitters if you fly through em.
