With this medium/venue being a VERY PUBLIC PLACE of like minded people. Why has the WA gathering for the 19 September suddenly become a closed shop??? Has this site just gone the same way many 4WD clubs go by becoming another Click??

Hi Rod W

I see that at the bottom you of the list you can create a new trip or gathering so I assume that there is a link to it elsewhere and that we can all create trips and gatherings. I think this is a terrific innovation!

Yep it is, but sad that the first WA one is restricted.

I am not sure what you mean by restricted - do you think that it is restricted to members only - I could not see where there was any restriction.

Hi Rod,

I have read post 16073 and the trip page the link goes to and cannot see where any restriction is. As far as I can see, its open to any exploroz reader, just simply add your attendance on the trips register page.

Cheers

Captain

Below is all the details. Read the second last line.

WA - Exploroz Get Together
Arranged By: Member - Melissa
Date: Sunday, September 19, 2004

Time: 10am for a BBQ lunch.
Location: Mawson Park, Hillary's.

Michelle tells me that Mawson Park is a popular family and group picnic destination. Apart from having heaps and heaps of space, there is a central pond with residents ducks, geese and even black swans (and seagulls).

There are a couple of covered picnic shelters with tables and bench seating and free? gas bbqs and bins. There is a MASSIVE kids playground to suit all ages from 1-15yrs plus a bike track around the playground which has a white sand base. There is also a green grass football sized oval used for sport on Saturdays, a public toilet block that is ok, and the whole park is shaded by massive Tuart trees. The whole park is surrounded by a lowrise copper-log fence with grass parking surrounding the park on the verge off the street, which is Mawson Crescent. So all in all it sounds like the perfect spot for our gathering.

From some of the responses I've had, I can see that some of you are keen to have a weekend campout or similar. Perhaps once we've met and had a chance to get to know each other a bit, we could organise an actual bush outing.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

:o) Melissa

Hmm... on my screen I do not get that line, I simply get a "click here" type button to attend. I guess that I get a different version of the page since I am already a member.

But my impression of this event is that its open to all, not just members. I certainly hope thats the case and all who want to attend can do so.

Cheers

Rod,

I have not even finished writting the system at this stage so what are you talking about a closed shop? The system has not been officially launched and I am in debug mode at the moment how about providing feedback.

David.
I think he means its for members only, which it states at the bottom of the page.

Also the page he refers to Members Trip/Gathering - (PostID: 16073), there is no reply button there, is that deliberate or error in code?

enjoy.

T.

The system is not even finished yet. Why does everyone get so bloody emotional. Has there been any offical launch NO. Can every just wait till we have it full sorted. Yes it has a member lock at the moment. I do not want to much data until I have it all debugged.

I spent 4 hours on it yesterday and need another couple today and hopefully it will be completed.

YES visitors will be able to register on a trip (they will not be able to arrange one), It is intended to be an additional member benifit yes, we continue to add benifits to the members system, what is wrong with that.

The intention is also that you will be able to publish 3 pictures from the event and a write up that will be able to be displayed and emailed to all attending people.

The forum post is designed to be locked as the member message and trip/gathering system should be able to collect the data, there is no point in doubling up the info in the forum. We are using the forum thread as an informative post only with auto deletion rules before archive.

Again can people wait to shoot off at our new system until it is released officially.

What ever it says now is because that is what I coded in late last night. What it may say today is different because I may be able to get the problem with the registration process for visitors FIXED.

T. No problem however I wanted to say what I had to say before it all gets out of hand. No if I can have a few hours without having to check the forum I will be able to resolve the visitors rego and fix the email issue that Melissa and I are investigating with the registration process.

Hi Rob (and Others),

Just to clarify and so that there is no more confusion, the WA get together is NOT a closed shop. It is open for all to attend, including visitors. In fact, the more the merrier!

Considering the number of get togethers that seem to be happening now on a regular basis, David has responded by trying to creating a new system that will make the job of organising and monitoring attendance a lot easier. It is simply that the WA get together is being used as a test case for the new system David is building. We have been emailing backwards and forwards trying to test the system so that David can debug it before it is launched to all.

So please be patient and don't feel that as a non-member you are being excluded as this is not the case. I certainly hope that you and other visitors can attend the get together as I'm sure it will be a fun day for all.

Visitor rego now appears to be working fine.

As a visitor you can register to attend a trip you cannot arrange one. That is one of the benifits of membership. This was how I intended the system to be released it just takes time.

Please feel free to have a look now and register. The system is getting closer all the time. We are wording up the disclaimers as we speak and I will finish the post trip updates stuff allowing the pics and trip reports to be loaded. This may be completed after this event when we have had a chance to load and debug a complete gathering.

We will release the system once the disclaimers are installed later today - maybe but you can certainly register now. Let me know if you have any problems.
