Today a new ARB winch bar was fitted as
well as a Safari snorkle and also a second battery frame. Tomorrow we are installing an underbelly 70 litre Long
Ranger fuel
tank.
My thanks to Member Eric for sourcing the gear and to his mate Anthony and his crew, for fitting it.
She gonna look pretty flash LOL
Its raining Datsun Cogs here in
Melbourne!

Gday Willem,
Sounds good mate. You'll be re-accerorised before you know it. Already looks like a pretty tidy truck!
Have fun,

G'day Willie,
Does the belly
tank hang down below the bottom of the chassis rail? I've been led to believe it does and am concerned this would make it vulnerable...

Not sure if I talked him into that or not, its the best option for his use.
Although the belly
tank is cheap insurance if you DO hole a main
tank. I just have issues paying $1000.00 for a LRTank and you only gain an extra 40ltrs over stock, 2 jerrys only costs $20-30 from army disposals!
The belly
tank is 70 ltrs and is $800-1000 as
well.. :(
Whats up with ARB stuff, I got it on
mine now since lowering it, bleep s on Rancho crap, and smoother than the XGS...?

G'day Roachie,
Geez I can't get a look in here LOL The decision not to go with that particular
tank was hardly cold before it hit the airwaves. I am still going to get a belly
tank when the right one is available, but for now the jerries will have to suffice :-)

Willem you forgot to tell them about the most important accessory that was purchased from the fishing
shop for you new truck.
The 6 meter telescopic squid pole or as we call them in Victoria a Wog Pole.
The funny thing was we went into one
shop and he did not want to say Wog Pole for fear of offending somebody in the
shop, I explained to him that, thats what they are called, I think he did not believe me.
Anyway he asked the bloke for a Telescopic squid pole and the guy replied real loud, so the whole
shop could hear "You mean a Wog Pole".
I laughed my head of and said "See told ya so"
This important accessory is to stick his sand flag on when he next goes into the Simpson.

I eventually found ARB after getting lost a few times as the directions were very vague :-)
After sussing the prices and ring my benefactor( who told me off severely) I decided to only buy an aerial mount and a a new Australia Roads map book. It turned out that the aerial mount had the wrong size hole in it and so I had to modify it. ARB may be a big corporation, with a big name and following, but some of their products leave a lot to be desired. I spoke with the Salesperson about the bullbar aerial mounts and how the one on the right of the bar would interfere(the aerial) with the drivers vision. All I got was a blank stare. It is only a small issue but why di they put it there? Who knows. Anyway my new mount is fitted and working
well.
Dunno if I need a lift kit. Maybe it is cheaper just to dint the sill panels when doing the hard yard....LOL
It was good to catch up again Dude!

I know that most of us use those top mounts for aerial's, but I some how think the original rational was for another set of
driving lights and that in their infinite wisdom you only put aerials on the left side.

It is illegal in Qld (I assume other states too) to put lights on those tabs.
So if they are there for that reason that is pretty silly.

Utemad if they are for aerials alone then why not just have welded a couple on the left side.
As stated aerials in front of the driver are not such a
bright thing
They are evenly spaced and I have seen lights on them, Legal or not buggered if I know.
Nobody says that manufactures of anything have to make sense.

according to the bacon, Its illegal to have lights above the bonnet.
Yet when I got my car engineered, I asked the engineer bout my Rally 2000's i had up top of the bar, he said as long as you can see something X distance infront of your car its ok..
I cant remember what X was though about 8-11ft if I remember. But then it depends on what they put on the ground in front of you at X distance! A match would be an issue!
John, wasnt really lunch as such, I had lunch, he had a sundae!
