Anyone seen these before? Are they any good, they seem pretty good price wise, of course I'd love a sothern cross but they appear to be twice the price of these...

Pay for what you get?

$300 for good quality Canvas tent? Thats about price I paid for the awning alone from SCross...

I would hazzard a guess at that being a true piece ofbleep.

YMMV

Check this interesting thing!

Then check some swag prices on there, that tent is either a mis print, or CHEAPy quality.

Compare against Southern Cross or Freedom. The weight of the tent will tell you if the canvas in of a good weight. Aussie made canvas is very good.

hi jeff

i bought one from the same guy last year.

have used it from the high country to fraser island.

have slept in storms and awoke dry with all the family.
the only thing i didnt like was the center pole so i went to rays outdoors and bought the square frame that sits in the top of the much more exspensive brands (cost a whole 19 bucks) and used two exstention poles to support the frame like the more espensive models.

works wonders for us and it has stood up to some very horrid weather and kept us all dry.

like all canvas just make sure it has dried properly before u store it in its home resting spot.

Hey Jeff I swear I have seen these tents for sale at Nerang camping and disposals on the gold coast before. Not a bad tent at first look. The first thing I noticed was the floor, very thin. I didn't look much harder than that as it was in its bag and I was more interested in the COI tent.

As for the price it was much the same as this guy is asking so do your research you may be able to find one in a camping store for the same price and not pay the postage and avoid the risks.

About a year ago i almost bought one (before doing some research) and actually contacted the guy about pick up and he was quite happy to do that but at 26kg thats gotta be expensive to post!

Jeff, I've got the little brother of this one. The Oz Trail Tourer 9. Used it on a recent trip to the cape. It worked a treat. There were two other centre pole tents used in the group we travelled with and ours was the best of the lot. I decided I want to trade in my Coleman Northstar 5 for another one of these as it was so good, and I can use 2. The only bad side was the customer service from the distributors. There was a part missing and the distributor couldn't get thair act together to send the bit to me as they promised. I have to thank the Great Outdoors shop in Cairns who went out of their way to help me out and took over the mess with the Oz Trail distributor.

Cheers,

Mark

Gday Jeff,we've got the same tent but ours is a Primus Coi Lightening Extended, these are a 10oz canvas tent. The copy on EBay is only polycotton/canvas,alot thinner and over time, wont last as well.We paid $740 for ours and have used it extensively, very happy with it.By the way ours has a heavy/duty pvc floor.

jeff,
ive got one took it on my 6 week trip to tassie earlier in the year. goes up easily just peg it out and up with centre pole. but you get what you pay for, tent is poly cotton and floor is thinner but at the price good value. bought mine from local camp store similar price. this is a solid tent i would hate to think of the freight costs. there are better quality and dearer tents but we decided if you get a few years out of one its a lot cheaper changing and we got 5 years out of our first $200 tent.
regards peter
ps i'll check out that side pole from the other posting
