Hi all. On 3.4 auto petrol 99 I have manual select transfer lock and low ratio select. Is it possible to rip out the select stick and modify / poke and just grab low without lock to back boat on sealed drive. Models with motor driven lock selector can use low range without lock so I am hoping it will be safe with this box as
well if I can cheat the mechanical gates. Any ideas? alternatively do all "motor select" version parts bolt on?
Also
mine has bad vibration at 2800 revs with very gentle 59K on the clock. Has anyone fixed this on an auto?

If you have ABS it is a little different, as is an auto version, because the shift points can change forn the auto , low range vs high range.
I am still researching this side of which pin to pull, like pin 7 on an 80, which will allow a difflock switch to activate the centre diff, and the lever to select high and low ratio.
But, yes, it is possible to do.

Yes ABS is fitted.
Mine does not have the electrical lock select switch at all. It relies on the transfer box "gear" stick to poke the selectors for lock first and then low onto place. Auto change points don't matter because I am hoping I can just select low ratio without distubing the lock selector shaft then back the boat up
hill and then go back to high so all is normal again.

it switches a switch for the cdl when you select low.
The mods need to be done in the loom, not the mechanism to do what you require.

My one does not have electric motor on back of transfer to move the selectors. there were two versions one was electric and one version was pure mechanical fingers pushing the cogs in the tx box.
mine uses mechanical positioning of the cogs to make the lock BEFORE the next selector engages low. (I an in New Zealand but I would thing you must have both versions as
well. Gregories repair manual shows both types.

Mechanically actualted transfercases require a mechical mod to disbale the engagement of 4wd when LOW range is selected.
Disabling electrically actuated 4wd tranfsercase is technically possible, but requires some work on the wiring loom to intercept & isolate the appropriate signals.
