I purchased the Engel gauge, around $25. Works
well.

Agree, anything with a lead running to the gauge will work. Engel charge a little more because they have their name on it.

Yeh, I've got one these too......great unit when it's doing what it's meant to, which isn't all the time, unfortunately. I've disconnected the beeper (it was driving me crazy/ier). I removed the batteries for the clock (it didn't keep accurate time). I've lengthened the remote lead so the unit sits in front of me on the dash board. I've permanently wired the power supply (snipped off the cigi plug) so the unit is on 24/7.
There is a sexy blue back-light which works most of the time.
When it was playing up a few weeks ago, I priced a VDO unit. Not available in Oz, but they will arrange import for me for about A$300-....no thanks.

Sunman,
Have you had any problems with your gauge as Roachie has stated? This unit seems to have some handy features and retails for around $ 39.00 on the Jaycar site.
Regards Rob

Isn't that what temp gauges do.
Have seen some that just sit inside available everywhere, try Jaycar, Dick Smiths etc
Then there are the battery remote ones that some use to tell the outside temp, only you hang it in the fridge and the remote head is up near the dash or somewhere.
Some are a bit crappy but what's 1 or 2 degrees of accuracy - if the beers cold enough then everything else will be also.

I've got an inside/outside one from Tandy. DSE have them as
well.
Mine cost $12 , but that was old stock I think.
My parents bought an Aquarium Temp guage. Cost a bit more , about $30 , but does have a few other features , like Min and Max Temps , which can be handy.
