Hi folks,
Was wondering if anyone had alot of experience with canvas roof rack sack's I am thinking of getting one made up for mine cause I want it a bit shorter than the roof rack so I can put the generator and jerry cans on it with out being in the sack.. if someone can let me know their experiences with them it would help me out heaps...

Please include how high the sack is too so it gives me an idea on the size needed..
,
Thanks C[_]

I have a Roof Sack. made by Southern Cross Canvas (the Tent Makers) and bought through ARB.

From memory mine is 183 X 122 cm (from ARB price list). It would be roughly 30cm Tall.

SC have a heap of different sizes.

Thanks for that it will give me a rough idea when pricing to make it. might find it cheaper to buy one already made but I'll check it out...

I've got the "Bushranger" Rack Sack and although it has had some bad comments on this forum I belive value for money and a 5 year warranty you can't beat it. Mines a 1200x900 and the height is adjustable it goes quite high, don't have the figures on me though. Had no dramas with it, it's been through very tight tracks, been rained on for days and a time and it's just bloody great.

I've got a Bushranger Rack Sack too, but probably won't buy another one. This one has a few small cuts, it seems to leak &/or get condensation. I now only use it for stuff like fold up chairs and the kids tent etc. Used to put sleeping bags and pillows up there but not anywore. Seems okay as far as dust is concerned though.
On a side note, I'd be cautious about putting a genie and gerry cans on the rack....weight!!

Roachie, it's got a 5 year warranty and I have heard of people getting brand newy's for the same problems you've got, go and get another one, the new ones are made stronger as well, they also have big buckle clips on them for easier access.
I still put my pillows and sleeping bags up there, if it starts to leak, I'll go get it replaced.

Hi guys
What brand of canvas waterproofing product has anyone had success with?
I want to slide my self inflating mattresess in the bag so they are up and ready to use on arrival, but I have noticed that the canvass is not water proof.
Thanks
Joe

Sideliner 1,
I've got a Bushranger sack, so far no problems at all it's a half rack size think it was about the $200 mark (I think). I usually put all the softer stuff in the rack sack, sleeping bags, clothes bags etc, no dust problems which I was impressed with and also nothing has got wet. Easy to work with and set up, I bought one of those wheel steps as well to get easier access.
Keep the shiny side up

I have a rack sack from "Michelle's Sacs", 1200 x 900 x 300. This is the smallest one they make. Heavy duty zips and a reinforced floor. Eight buckles which connect the sack to the rack and hold the load down, no need for additional ties. Zips are also covered with a velcro sealed flap. Recommend to anyone. Approx cost was just under $300. Website is www.michellessacs.com.au
Cheers
