hi all,
in the back of the 86model jacks the floor is raised from the front of the back seat to the back. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to put a sub tank in there or maybe use it for storage? I don't know what is under there or even if it is accesable under the carpet ( want to avoid ripping the carpet up just to find out I can't do anything) but if it can be done it would change a few things in a pretty big way especially if it meant holding alot more fuel for those long trips. and avoid paying those huge prices at the pump..

I used to own a 84 LS jackaroo,
this had a factory aux tank.
Check out the wreckers to see if they have an LS model jack

Hi dogart and sideiner1,

I have a Holden Rodeo 1997 dual cab 2.6L petrol. It has the standard 63L tank in front of the axle on the drivers side. However I have noticed that the tank from behind the axle on a Jackaroo/MU/Frontera will bolt in behind my axle. Even the 4 mounting holes are there! I will have to carry my spare tyre in the tray or get a rear door mount. The crossmember for the spare tyre ratchet mechanism might also have to be modified but it is possible.

I was just wanting to know if either of you could tell me how the Jackaroo dual tank operated?
Which was the main tank?
Did the second tank pump into the main tank or could you draw fuel from either?
How did you switch between the two tanks?
How did you fill the two tanks?
Also what size are the two Jackaroo tanks?

Thanks guys.

By the way, the Jacks I was looking at were around the 88-90 models.

hi Utemad

my Jack is an 86 model deisel turbo the tank is behind the rear axle .... I'm in the process of trying to work out how big I want the second tank to be I've got a few ideas and have talked to a make who is pretty switched on with car stuff and the tank might be as big as the main tank yet but not sure...

My fuel pump is a mechanical fuel pump not electric so the fuel pump is next to the motor.. so I will tap the second tank into the main tank line via a solenoid switch so I will be able to switch tank to tank.. and depending on which which tank I want the pump will draw of the one selected... the way to fill is to have one fuel hole in side of car (only cause there is no room to add another) and have it branch off into both thanks..(the Y method lol) there may be a little splash back into one tank but hey the fuel will still be there lol I am even contemplating putting in another fuel pump in the back somewhere(Electric) as a backup if the mechanical one fails but might be a tad over kill lol not sure and depends on how much I am willing to spend on it (or should I say how much the mrs is willing to let me spend lol) so there it is sounmds gr8 on paper but when I do finally get around to it I'll let ya's know how it goes....

the size of the jack tank is roughly 80-83 litres I think 21.5 gallons(US gallons that is) not imperial about 15 litres the difference....

I hope this helps lol ( I'm confused)
