I have recently purchased a 2001 Jackaroo and wish to install my CB beneath the radio. I've tried taking out the 2 screws from above the radio and have taken out the 4 screws and removed the cover over the gear stick/transfer selector, but I just can't get the centre dash cover off. I've popped out all the clips I can see, but it seems to still be holding near where the cigarette lighter socket is. Is there a trick to it?

Also, how should I access the dash near the speedo etc. I've taken out the two screws but cannot seem to budge it. I didn't want to risk breaking anything, but is it simply a case of a little more force required? I am wanting to install some driving lights and want to access the blank press button spaces to install the switch.

Thanks!
Mike.

Trying to remember about the centre dash I think from memory I had a similar problem but others have said you just have to use more force.

As for the blank press button spaces, just get a small screwdriver and pry one side out as they just clip in, they come out pretty easy. No need to take the dash apart.

Had mine off quite a few times a year or two back - I've got a CB in the dash just under the radio too).
1. Take out the four screws on the side of the centre console.
2. Lift the rear of the console and then slide the thing back a bit.
3. Look for the screws that secure the dash facia/surround - make sure you get all of them out - some are a bit obscure - go hunting, especially down around the ashtray.
4. Gently prise the facia out - it won't come completely free - there is a power harness down the bottom feeding a widget....I leave that connected.... You should be able to position the facia so as to get access to the spot you want.
5. Remove the tray/insert and off you go with the CB project.Best I can recall from my playtime there.........had to get in a few times as said, for associated maintenance issues.

Thanks for the advice, Banjo. I think I must have missed a screw or two at the bottom of the fascia, so I'll give it another go.
Cheers,
Mike.

er......re the driving lights.....I put my switches for that and other toys at the rear of the centre console - there are some blank spots there - I used ARB illuminated switches, plus some stockies.....whatever......oh......my chariot is the 99 SE TD.

Hi Mike

I have pulled mine on and off a few times, the first time is a bit of trouble, but saw some great instructions above. As for the switch for the lights, I used a small screw driver to pop of the blanks near the indicator and was able to poke the wires up to it. I have also use the blanks in the centre console next to the seat warmers for other accessories. Cheers
