G'day all,

I'm after any info for travelling east of Esperance/Cape Arid. I have heard about little used tracks east of Cape Arid following the beach/dunes to eventually rejoin the Eyre highway near Caiguna or Cocklebiddy any info would be much appreciated.

I am already aware of the track up to Balladonia.

Regards
Kozy

Hi Kozy,

I did this trip many years ago. Here's a link to the writeup about it. Hopefully this answers your questions, but let us know if you want more info.

Thanks for the link Captain.

I have heard one of the guys at work talk about this area a fair bit. He seems to know it well but his directions are always a little hard to follow.

I am quite interested in having a look along this part of the coast next time I go to visit the big brother in Perth.

Hi Kozy

I did this trip in april this year. You need to get hold of the maps in the 250k series called Malcolm Special, Balladonia and Culver. The tracks are marked on these maps.

We took the telegraph track to Wattle Camp then headed to the beach, watch the tides here. After a 45km beach drive, we rejoined the track and drove onto the Wylie scarp. No real problems the whole way, but the tracks may have some water in places.

We joined the Eyre Hwy at Caiguna and drove to Eyre Bird Observatory, the telegraph track goes through along the cliffs, but we didn't try to find it.

Cheers

Kozy,

If you could let me know how you get on that would be great. I am thinking about it for Easter school hol's

Hope you have a good trip. Get the Air con checked before you go. We did the trip across in October 96 and had 45C plus with hot winds from the north west. Very uncomfortable and it ddi slow us down a fair bit. Maybe allow for that in your planning.

Good luck
