Hi All
Just popped into my local 4WD
shop where they were fitting a 6.7L turbo diesel chev engine to a 9 month old 4.8 partol. Nice conversion if you can afford it. cheers Ad

Wow, must be keen for some serious torque and/or towing power, those 4.8's can be powered up very nicely to have some serious rubber frying torque...

HE could sell the 4.8 for more than the cost of the 6.7 (I thought they are 6.5 TD's?), and then its only the cost of the conversion.

I believe he is spending about 30K on this including the engine, conversion and new tanks. I think he was chasing about 8k for just the petrol engine. Not 100% but am sure the guys said 6.7L new chev diesel.

Lets look at this logically.
$75,000 for a 4.8 + $30,000 for engine/mods = $105,000
$105,000total - $8k for the 4.8 = $97,000
A fool and his $ are soon parted..
... and when he sells it he will get $45-50k.... But will get better fuel economy.
Then again, if I win this $18 mil on lotto, Id do the exact same thing.
$8k for the 4.8 is a bargain I would say!

Hi Truckster
If I had the money, I would be in line too ...
He is selling just the motor, nothng else, would that be easy to put into something else, considering no computer or other bits n pieces included??

The computer etc wouldnt be used with the Chev, so I would say it would go with it
could be wrong.

I've heard those motors are more trouble than they're worth. Someone said something like, "nothing like a smokey detroit".
Brunswick motors quoted me $10,000 - $12,000 to replace my 4.5L with a 6.5L.
The motor's similar so I don't know where the $30000 is coming from.

Hi Crazie,
Im waiting for a guinea pig to fit a TRD Supercharger to a 4.7 100 series. From what I have seen "from $6k" 600nm torque. A nice one woud be the twin turbo diesel 5.0 from a Toureg 750 nm torque.
