Getting a good price for the old Troopy and have a budget of $38k for a newer truck. Want a diesel that will last a good 15 years.

What would be the best value large 4wd.

Hi Brett

Seeing as though you are in the market for another 4by. May I suggest that you check out the government auctions. A mate of mine picked up a troopy 6 seater diesel from there last year. It was a 2001 model and had only travelled 21000k's. Had a factory towbar and aircon. the price he paid for it was $32,000 OTR.
Food for thought

What's the requirements? Looks like you're towing a serious load in your rig pic.

Of course I want a diesel. I have saved long and hard for the small savings I have and see no point in spending it as I go along with higher fuel costs. I want to spend a heap of it in one hit when the engine blows up in 15 years time....!!!!! hahaha

Towing..yep, Cavalier camper with tinny on the boatrack. The back of Troopy was packed to the bottom of the windows with outboard, inshore fishing gear, TV ,fly fishing gear, clothes, blue water fishing gear, fridge and freezer, estuary fishing gear plus the the wife's craft crap which really put my nose out of joint because I couldn't get all of my fishing gear in...

I guess we were around the 4500kg mark with water, fuel, food and bait....haha

I do like the troop carriers but it is difficult to find one up here (Mackay) I did stumble over a 2001 STD 105 series with 53000km . They want $42000 but I have sort-of offered $38000 as an absolute max to see how flexible they are. Would still prefer a Troopy.but the 100 is more comfortable....
Am I turning into a 39yo Old Fart??

42000 for a Std 2001 model !!!! Thats a bit dear, I might take mine for a drive to Mackay and sell it.

I paid 34000 2 years ago for my 2001 Std cruiser at the auctions with 60000km, bulbar, scrub bars, uhf and window tint.
