Hi
I am a new member and have used the
forum to help my purchase decision - a '97 80 Series Cruiser on Dual Fuel (a gem with only 72K). Thanks for the very imforative info out there.
My only problem is that it has a gas smelling fume when running on LPG. It is noticable when you jump out of the car when it is idling. It is absent on petrol and the gas system was checked over(and repaired) by an independant mechanic when I bought it. Having had dual fuel passenger cars I dont remember the engine/exhaust fumes smelling quite like this, and was wondering if it something specific to cruisers (maybe the mix isnt set right or it could be just leaking). It is basically the same smell as what comes out the exhasut, but much stronger and most noticable in the centre of the vehicle.
Would appreciate any advice.
Cheers

If you have any concerns about a gas leak you should have it looked at right away. I would have said that gas cars stink quite badly of gas (taxi ranks are awful) however since you have had gas cars previously I won't as you would already know.
72000k for a 97! That is goooooooood!

I would check all the fittings with soapy
water solution and if you can't find anything take it to a pro, not worth taking the risk with fuel systems especially gas. Cheers Isaac.

Just a thought, but it is known that the 80 series fuel
tank cap can let stink out if it is under pressure from expanding fuel.
If the smell is coming from that area, get a different cap from the wreclers (most cars run thesame cap) and give that a go.
Worked for
mine....(and i now have a Suzuki cap)
