Hi all,

Now that we have the camper trailer, we're thinking about places we might like to camp at and are considering Wilson's Prom - most likely in the New Year - AFTER school holidays, and we have to admit neither of us have been down to the Prom so we'd like to know, where people camp there, places to visit, stuff we can do with kids - walks, drives etc, we'll most likely head down on a Fri and come back either on a Sunday evening or Monday morning...any info would be GREAT...

cheers

Lyn

Dont worry mrs Al... I just dont know what people think when they see yours truly.. a bald grey nomad in his G string...Mind you at the prom I'd only be posing on the beach it's far to cold to actually swim

Maybe if Rick Blaine did go swimming in that G String at Wilsons Prom, we would have to call him Chill Blaine

Fantastic place, particularly "off holiday season". The kids will have a ball and be relatively safe. Birds can be quite friendly but I don't think they like visitors to feed them any more. No fires, generators etc...thank god!!! Once you have been you will return...believe me! Enjoy

G'day Lyn - you will love "the Prom" - there are literally 100's of campsites down there - mostly good grassy area - aparently you have to go into some sort of ballot for peak periods like easter/christmas etc - but after school holidays should be ok - we just rocked up - you can ring the rangers - look up Parks Victoria - they can tell you most things about it - the little kiosk there is very expensive, so take everything with you - it is a fair drive back to nearest town (which is also only small) - and even further to a decent size supermrket - lots of shade at most camp sites - gets pretty crowded - facilities are pretty good - no power - naturally no fires, generators -heaps to do - the beach is great - short walk to Squeaky Beach, decent walk to Mt Oberon - but well worth it. lots of other walks. In all our travels we only got to the Prom this year - and it was great - tho we had fog at Mt Ob eron when we got up there but got some good pics anyway. Enjoy.

Thank heavens not everyone shares your attitude Jules. Just think it through, no customers would mean no services - none at all. People who visit remote or out of the way have a responsibility to support local traders. There's more to life than the cheapest price available at a city supermarket!!

Well said Andrew! She has a very narrow selfish view of the world I think. Probably very young.

In reply to Mick and Andrewx - not young - but not stupid either - sure I supported the local kiosk and also the closest town - but the comment was merely as an interest statement - some people are concerned about the cost of things - and it is good as you say to support local trades - but do you like getting ripped off? More fool you guys if you do - I mean $7.50 for "black and gold" brand margarine? you would haver to be joking if you thought that was ok! Anyway talk about narrow view of the world - get a life!

Oh dear, Jules I fear you are telling fibs! I checked the price and there and it's $4.25. Lack of patronage pushes prices up Jules. And no more of that abusive "get a life" tpye of comment please.
