Hi all! I'm new to this site but from what Ive seen so far it looks great! I have a couple of queries for anyone who knows a bit about mq patrols. I have an sd33t equipped mq shorty with a near stuffed turbo (ie: too much shaft play, not enough boost etc.). Is it worth rebuiding an ancient turbo like this or are there better options out there for the money? Also, could someone tell me exactly what the standard turbo is (such as brand, flange pattern, A/R's etc.)???? Does anyone make a ball bearing turbo to suit the standard exhaust flange? Any help would be muchly appreciated!

I don't know for sure but if its most likely a Garrett turbo with a T3 flange. The problem with upgrading it I would think would be the fact thats its not intercooled. I don't know how much more boost you could pipe through without running the risk of damage / pinging.

If its anything like the old style nissan T3 turbos of the eighties, you may find a T3 off a late model RB20 or RB25 would be a good swap. We swapped the T3 off a Z31 200ZR NICS RB20DET for a newer cermaic wheeled T3 from a R32 Skyline's ECCS RB20DET - the difference in spool up time was definitely noticable.

I'd be interested to hear what you come up with as I have a SD33T myself.

Cheers,
Dave.
